The six Riverine Patrol Craft, hull numbers L.11–L.16, were built by Marsun Public Company Limited, which has more than 46 years of experience in shipbuilding and ship repair. Over the years, the Company has built and delivered more than 360 vessels to government agencies and private-sector clients in Thailand and overseas. Its portfolio includes patrol gunboats, high-speed patrol craft, missile-equipped patrol vessels, oil-spill response vessels, crew boats and offshore support vessels for oil platforms, as well as crew transfer vessels for the offshore wind farm industry.
For patrol craft of approximately 10 metres in length, the Company has previously built and delivered more than 58 vessels to government agencies, reflecting its proven experience and capability in this type of vessel.
The six Riverine Patrol Craft are intended to strengthen the operational capability of the Royal Thai Navy. Their primary missions include riverine and coastal patrol and protection; preventing infiltration and enforcing the law along rivers and coastal areas; tracking and intercepting suspected vessels engaged in illegal activities; maintaining maritime security; and conducting search-and-rescue operations.
All six vessels have successfully completed harbour acceptance tests and sea trials. They achieved a maximum average speed of 43 knots, exceeding the contractual requirement of not less than 40 knots. These results demonstrate the vessels’ performance and readiness to effectively support the Riverine Squadron’s patrol, security, and operational missions in riverine areas.Acceptance Ceremony for Riverine Patrol Craft L.11–L.16
